    Neurosurgical Department №2

    Neurosurgical Department №2 of the Republican Research and Clinical Center of Neurology and Neurosurgery was founded on 15 October 2012, and is designed for in-patient treatment and subsequent care of adult (age ≥ 18 years) patients with neurosurgical pathology of the central and peripheral nervous systems, as well as individuals with rare, atypical and complex cases of diseases of the central and peripheral nervous system for implementation of high-tech and complex surgical interventions, which include:

    1. Cerebrovascular pathology (arterial aneurysms of the brain; arteriovenous malformations (AVM); arteriostenosis; carotid artery occlusion and stenotic processes of the main arteries of neck and intracranial arteries of the brain).
    2. Brain tumors (tumors of the hemispheres of the brain; tumors of the posterior fossa; tumor of dura mater; tumors of skull base, including extra-, intracranial neoplasms; tumors of chiasmal-sellar region, including pituitary adenomas; tumors of cranial nerves; tumors of ventricular system; tumors of pineal gland).
    3. Injuries and diseases of cranial and peripheral nerves (diseases and injuries of cranial nerves; diseases and injuries of the trunks of the brachial plexus; tumors of the nerve trunks and plexus; peripheral nerve injury of the extremities in their irreparable defects).
    4. Intramedullary and extramedullary tumors of the spinal cord and its nerve roots.
    5. Hydrocephalus (congenital and acquired).
    6. Drug-resistant epilepsy, symptomatic epilepsy, epileptic syndrome, hyperkinesis, refractory to medical treatment.
    7. Parkinson's disease (2nd (and higher) stage on the Hoehn and Yahr scale), generalized dystonia.
    8. Arachnoid and other cysts of the brain and spinal cord.
    9. Degenerative diseases of the spine.
    10. Defects and malformations of the central nervous system, skull and spine (spinal, cranial hernia; syringomyelia; craniostenosis; Arnold-Chiari malformation etc.).
    11. Consequences of traumatic brain injury (extensive trepanation defects of skull, including craniofacial and craniobasal localization; post-traumatic hydrocephalus; post-traumatic epilepsy; post-traumatic liquorrhea, etc.).
    12. Purulent and parasitic lesions of the brain and spinal cord.

     

    The department is located on the 4th floor of the clinical building of Republican Research and Clinical Center of Neurology and Neurosurgery, has wards with enhanced comfort. Neurosurgical care is provided to patients residing in the Republic of Belarus, and to citizens of countries near and far abroad (for payment).

    As part of the postgraduate study in Republican Scientific and Practical Center for Neurology and
    Neurosurgeryis being performed a dissertation “Early diagnosis of ischemic complications in
    patients with ruptured arterial aneurysms after microsurgical clipping”
    Has publications in domestic and foreign scientific journals.
    Annually makes reports at international conferences.
