         Neurological department № 1 of the Republican Research and Clinical Center of Neurology and Neurosurgery began its work in March 2005.

         The Department has 30 beds and accepts for the treatment and diagnostics citizens from all over the Republic of Belarus, as well as foreign nationals. In recent years, patients with neurological diseases from Russia, Lithuania, the United States, Libya, Afghanistan, Poland, Ukraine, Latvia, Italy, Kazakhstan, Georgia and other countries received highly qualified medical care.

         The department is staffed with highly qualified specialists.

         Employees of the Department:

• Gvisch Tatyana - neurologist (Head of Department), doctor of the highest qualification category;
• Svetlana Klyunchik – neurologist, doctor of the the first qualification category;
• Larissa Yudina - neurologist, doctor of the the second qualification category;
• Natalia Kudinova - Head nurse.

         The treatment is carried out according to clinical protocols and algorithms adopted in modern neuroscience. We are using the differentiated approach in the treatment of patients. The basis of the employed treatment schemes are the traditional medications and physical therapy methods of influence, combined with modern techniques, including developed in the Republican Scientific Practical Centre of Neurology and Neurosurgery.

          The department implements modern diagnostic and specialized medical care for patients with various diseases of the central and peripheral nervous system. To clarify the diagnosis involved doctors of different specialties (otoneurologist, psychiatrist- expert in narcology, neurosurgeon, chiropractor, ophthalmologist, therapist, psychologist), using modern neuroimaging techniques.

         Currently, complex diagnosis and treatment of patients is carried out in the department in the following areas:

•      extrapyramidal disorders (Parkinson's disease, Parkinson's syndrome);

•      nervous system demyelinating disorders (multiple sclerosis);

•      Epilepsy, paroxysmal disorders of consciousness of various origins;

•      peripheral nervous system diseases (vertebral radiculopathy, polyneuropathy of different etiologies);

•      degenerative brain disease (spinocerebellar degeneration etc.);

•      pain syndromes (headaches, back pain, trigeminal neuralgia).

          In the neurology department №1 operates a close-knit team of highly qualified doctors and nurses. Nurses of the department are distinguishes by kind attitude towards patients and a great professional level, most of them have the first and highest qualification category.

         All patients after a comprehensive and thorough examination and treatment are provided with detailed recommendations for further preventative and supportive care, lifestyle to prevent recurrence of the disease and the maximum social adaptation.
